Certified Organic Cotton is the absolute most pure form of cotton available today. It contains no pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers during it's cultivation and has no added chemicals or preservatives (such as formaldehyde) in the processing. It's a premium cotton that's pure and clean - soft and beautiful.

Mattress Ticking is the term used to identify the fabric used to cover your mattress. It's the material that you can see and feel on the outside of a bed. The ticking is a very important part of a mattress because it will determine how the components inside the mattress feel to the sleeper. It's also the first contact-layer, so you definitely want it to be a breathable material. You wouldn't want to put an organic cotton canvas ticking over a natural latex mattress core because you wouldn't get the benefit of the latex! The same would be true if using a a thin stretchy-knit for a comforter because it wouldn't provide the proper tensile strength for the contents inside. When we design our mattresses and bedding, we look at both sides of the coin... then we look at the perimeter. Every detail is examined and researched, and if we think we can improve it, we do. For example, the organic cotton ticking on our natural latex mattresses is a three-layer stretch knit that enhances the surface comfort and easily conforms to the latex underneath so you can feel the softness. Many of the so-called organic cotton stretch knits stocked by the mills are actually constructed with only the top layer being organic cotton, while the second and third layer is made of polyester. We have our ticking knit exclusively for us, so we can create our own specs and offer TRUE organic comfort on all our mattresses.

Organic Cotton Batting is the stuff you put inside a mattress or pillow. You can get very thin batting, like the kind we use in our organic cotton quilted coverlets. Or you can get thick and fluffy batting for stuffing pillows or layering over an innerspring. We never use organic cotton batting as the first layer in our mattresses because it's more prone to dust mites, but because of it's firm density and strength it's great as a support layer over an innerspring. We have customers who love cotton pillows, so we offer them as well... we suggest you air them in the dryer or outside once a week to keep them dry of body moisture. Our organic cotton quilted coverlets and mattress pads are easy-care machine wash and dry, and made with thin organic cotton batting quilted to an organic cotton percale outer cover.
